The music video for “RE:WIND”, performed by six-member virtual YouTuber group ISEGYE IDOL, planned by popular Korean streamer Woowakgood (Wow good), was deleted from YouTube on July 21 due to a copyright infringement claim.
The deletion notice stated, “This video is no longer available due to a copyright claim by Taeho HWANG / Bepsi Train.” At the time it was taken down, the video had racked up over 24.8 million views, according to a post on DC Inside Virtual Sna Gallery.
The copyright takedown stemmed from the unauthorized use of the “Geumcheon-gu Office Station VRChat asset”, which was created by Bepsi Train. He had asked the Waktaverse YouTube channel to remove his nickname from the video description but received no response. Afterward, he submitted a DMCA takedown request, which was approved by YouTube.
During a livestream on SOOP at 6 PM the same day, Woowakgood commented, “I haven’t received any recent contact from the creator (Bepsi Train). The (RE:WIND video) was taken down suddenly today, so it’s quite abrupt.”
The Waktaverse YouTube channel currently has 159 videos, but now faces growing scrutiny. There’s rising concern that more of these uploads might also be flagged or deleted due to similar copyright issues.
Earlier on July 12, Woowakgood had made all content on his main YouTube channel private. Some videos were restored later, a move believed to be a review step amid growing pressure related to digital copyright law in South Korea.
Woowakgood’s Recent Copyright Controversies
Recent controversies surrounding Woowakgood have piled up. These include the unauthorized use of music in fan-made rhythm game “WJMax”, which was distributed via his Waktaverse Games platform.
The Korea Music Copyright Association (KOMCA) released a firm statement on July 4 saying, “We will pursue (copyright infringement countermeasures) to the very end. There will absolutely be no fading out in the middle.”
In a separate issue, Wakgood.net, a website that mimicked the government-run warning.or.kr and linked to Woowakgood’s Naver Cafe “Wakmulwon”, drew criticism. While the Korea Communications Standards Commission said it wasn’t “illegal information,” they added, “We will continue to monitor issues such as the possibility of some similarities.”
Other investigations are ongoing. Authorities are reviewing the unauthorized use of the National Police Agency’s “Chamsuri” logo, and the Korean Red Cross has requested the removal of its “Red Cross” mark, stating legal violations.
The copyright takedown of “RE:WIND” officially confirms that YouTube acknowledged a copyright infringement by the Waktaverse channel — marking a significant blow to the project led by Woowakgood.
