Actor Park Yeon-woo is making his mark in the SBS Friday–Saturday drama Would You Marry Me?, showing off a kind of cold-hearted charisma that’s getting attention from viewers.
The series—directed by Song Hyun-wook and Hwang In-hyeok, and written by Lee Ha-na—portrays a sham newlywed life between two people competing to win a top-class honeymoon home as a prize. Park steps into the role of Lee Seong-U, the CEO of Botte Department Store, a man with a calm, elegant exterior but a ruthless nature underneath.
In episodes 3 and 4 (aired on Oct. 17–18), Lee Seong-U calmly told his subordinate, Managing Director Baek Sang Hyeon (played by Bae Na-ra), to “fix the situation” after he himself had mistakenly drawn the winning lot for a $5 billion townhome—an error he later blamed on the subordinate. Right after, he shocked viewers again by showing an unsettling, two-faced side: assaulting a passerby just for looking at him, then covering it up with money, and still going after his employee.

That kind of scene let Park Yeon-woo’s acting shine. His restrained facial expressions and calm gaze carried the chilling essence of Lee Seong-U’s cold personality. Especially during the confrontation scenes with Bae Na-ra, Park created heavy tension mostly through his eyes rather than words, leaving a strong impression.
Having built credibility through multiple past projects, Park Yeon-woo keeps expanding his acting range here. He draws in audiences by subtly showing tiny emotional shifts—portraying the character’s unstable and contradictory inner world.
‘Would You Marry Me?’ airs every Friday and Saturday at 9:50 PM (KST) on SBS, continuing to spark conversation for its sharp tone and tense character portrayals.
