Lee Jun-ho shocked viewers in Episode 5 of tvN’s weekend drama ‘Typhoon Family’ (aired October 25) — wagering both of his eyes in a reckless deal with a loan shark to save Jin Seon-kyu.
After the sudden death of his father Kang Jin-young (played by Sung Dong-il), Kang Tae-pung (Lee Jun-ho) lost his family home due to debt. He and his mother Jung Jeong-mi (Kim Ji-young) had no place to go, eventually spending nights in the Typhoon Company office. They were caught by O Mi-seon (Kim Min-ha), who later offered them a small room. Her grandmother Yeom Bu-ni (Kim Young-ok) — suffering from dementia — greeted Tae-pung warmly.
Even as Jung Jeong-mi tried to act fine, she quietly cried that night. Tae-pung reassured her, saying things would get better once their prepaid safety shoes from Busan arrived.
Meanwhile, Cha Seon-taek (Kim Jae-hwa) stopped by the Typhoon Company when no one was around and left the health drinks he was delivering. At the same time, Bae Song-jung (Lee Sang-jin) got caught secretly using the company’s PC communication to study.

Elsewhere, O Mi-seon’s sister, O Mi-ho (Kwon Han-sol), faced sexual harassment while working part-time. Wang Nam-mo (Kim Min-seok) stepped in — throwing a punch at the harasser. The two recognized each other from their time on Love Studio, and Nam-mo soon started visiting Mi-ho at her department store job as an elevator operator.
Things took a darker turn in Busan. Park Yun-cheol (Jin Seon-kyu) — who was supposed to deliver the safety shoes Tae-pung prepaid for — had his money and goods taken by a loan shark, Ryu Hui-gyu (Lee Jae-kyun). Jung Cha-ran (Kim Hye-eun) told Tae-pung that Ryu would release 500 pairs if he could bring an extra ₩5 million.
Desperate to raise the money, Tae-pung failed to find a way. O Mi-seon then quietly used an installment savings account left by Tae-pung’s late father and handed over ₩5 million, telling him, “Take the shoes first and sell them.” Still, Jung Cha-ran warned, “Ryu Hui-gyu is dangerous. Just pay and leave fast.”
Meanwhile, Pyo Bak-ho (Kim Sang-ho) sent his son Pyo Hyeon-jun (Moo Jin-sung) to Busan to try to buy 6,500 pairs for ₩30 million. When Tae-pung found Park Yun-cheol beaten and bleeding, he asked Ryu Hui-gyu about the total debt — ₩50 million, now ₩70 million with interest.
Determined, Tae-pung offered, “I’ll sell 7,000 pairs myself and repay ₩100 million.” But Ryu demanded something more brutal — Tae-pung’s two eyes as collateral.
“That’s enough for me to pull out. But let me take one of the eyeballs,” said Pyo Hyeon-jun coldly, backing away. Despite the threat, Kang Tae-pung stamped his handprint on the deal with Ryu Hui-gyu — a shocking moment that left viewers stunned.
