Park Ji-hoon Hits a New High with Deep Emotional Acting—His Defining Role Yet
Both the story and Park Ji-hoon himself have leveled up in a big way. With Netflix’s Weak Hero Class 2 pulling in praise from all over the world, fans—both in Korea and abroad—are more drawn to Park than ever before. He’s the lead this time, and he’s absolutely nailed the emotional growth journey.
The series dropped on April 25, and it follows Yeon Si-eun, a top student who ends up at Eunjang High, still carrying the heavy guilt of not being able to protect a friend despite standing up to violence. Now, determined not to lose anyone else, he throws himself into even tougher fights.
Park Ji-hoon plays Yeon Si-eun and really dives into the role. Throughout the new episodes, we see Yeon Si-eun’s brainy side come out—he’s sharp, always reading people’s motives, and has this knack for steering situations in his favor with well-laid plans. On top of that, his fighting game’s gotten stronger. He still wields his signature pen, but now he’s also using whatever objects he can snatch from his enemies as weapons. Smart and tough.
This season,Yeon Si-eun’s still haunted by what happened before, so he pulls back, choosing to keep his distance from people. But slowly, bit by bit, he starts to let some new friends in. Park brings that slow emotional thaw to life with these heart-tugging, quiet glances and super subtle facial cues—his signature melancholic vibe is in full effect, and it’s winning over viewers everywhere.
Park Ji-hoon’s been in the game for a while—he first showed up as a child actor in 2006. A lot of folks got to know him in 2017 when he became a member of Wanna One after competing on Produce 101 Season 2. Since 2019, though, he’s been going all in on acting, kicking things off with a lead role in JTBC’s Flower Crew: Joseon Marriage Agency.
With Weak Hero Class 2, it really feels like he’s found that one role that defines a career. He’s showing just how much he’s grown—and how much more he’s still got to offer.
