Lee Yoon-jin confirmed her divorce mediation and separation from her husband, actor Lee Beom-soo, in an interview with OSEN on March 16.
She stated:
“I have also seen the news reports about the divorce. The contents of the article are correct.”
Lee Yoon-jin is currently living in Bali, Indonesia with their daughter who attends an international school, while their son lives with Lee Beom-soo in Seoul.
“Most of the contents of the article are correct,” she said. “We are currently in the process of divorce mediation. The first hearing is scheduled for next week. I will let you know again after the situation is sorted out. I also had a hard time. I’m sorry for the inconvenience.”
The couple was previously embroiled in divorce rumors in December 2023.
At the time, Lee Yoon-jin posted on her Instagram, “The End Of My First Chapter,” and tagged her husband Lee Beom-soo. She also uploaded a video on her Instagram story with the English phrase, “I decided to stop being kind to the closest people who don’t deserve my kindness.”
This was followed by Lee Beom-soo and Lee Yoon-jin unfollowing each other on Instagram, and Lee Beom-soo deleting all of his followers and posts. However, Lee Beom-soo’s agency denied the divorce rumors at the time, saying, “It is not a divorce” and “It is a personal matter.”
However, three months after the divorce rumors surfaced, MHN Sports reported on March 16 that the couple is currently in divorce mediation and is about to have their first mediation hearing.
According to the media outlet, Lee Yoon-jin filed for divorce mediation against Lee Beom-soo late last year. She reportedly made up her mind to divorce in mid-2023, and at the time of her Instagram post in December, their marriage was already practically over.
Lee Yoon-jin later requested a consensual divorce from Lee Beom-soo, but when they failed to reach an amicable agreement, she eventually filed for divorce mediation late last year.
On the same day, Lee Beom-soo’s agency, WHYNOT Entertainment, confirmed, “Lee Beom-soo is in the process of divorce mediation.” They added, “The details are personal matters, so it is difficult to confirm.”
Lee Beom-soo married for the first time in 2003 but divorced after five months. He then married Lee Yoon-jin, who is 14 years his junior, in May 2010 and they have a daughter, Soeul (13), and a son, Daeul (10). Lee Beom-soo appeared on the KBS2 variety show “Superman is Back” with their two children, known as the “Soda Siblings,” and received much love.
