The 61st Baeksang Arts Awards with Gucci went down on May 5th at 8 PM, taking place at COEX D Hall in Gangnam-gu, Seoul. As Korea’s only major awards show that covers TV, film, and theater, the night was packed with standout moments—one of the biggest being Lee Soo-ji’s win.

Yep, comedienne Lee Soo-ji walked away with the Best Female Entertainer award, beating out big names like Jang Do-yeon, Ji Ye-eun, Haewon, and Hong Jin-kyung.

When she got up on stage to accept the trophy, she kicked off her speech in true Lee Soo-ji style:
“Thank you. Kim Won-hoon had a dream that I was covered in poop, but I am a Christian. I am most beautiful when I am funny.”

She went on to share just how much support has meant to her, especially during tough times:
“Funny people tend to have many good people around them. When the stage disappeared and I fell into a slump, the ‘SNL’ team reached out to me. I really love them. To the ‘Hot Issue-ji’ team, thank you for always making it enjoyable to work.”

Of course, she didn’t forget to mention the people closest to her heart—her family:
“When I go home, there’s another director. I have a husband with a better sense of humor than me. I am also grateful to my mother for passing on her comedic genes.”

One of the funniest and most honest moments of the night? When she shouted,
“Wearing a dress here is better than childcare!”
That line got a huge reaction, but she didn’t stop there. She got real about the messages she receives from fans:
“There are times I get criticized, but I receive many messages from viewers saying, ‘My depression is getting better’ and ‘I laughed today.’ This is all thanks to you all.”
