“New Recruit 3” Wraps Up with Intensity, Humor, and a Touching Goodbye
The third season of New Recruit is officially wrapping up, and it’s been keeping viewers hooked till the very end. The final episode airs today (April 29), marking the end of another chapter for the hit Genie TV original.
Directed by Min Jin-gi and Jo Je-wook, and written by Yoon Ki-young and Kang Go-eun, the show is based on the work of Jang Bbi Jju and was brought to life by KT Studio Genie, A2G Entertainment, and Story Island.
This season once again nailed its signature vibe — mixing laugh-out-loud moments with surprisingly relatable scenes from military life. The realistic setting and the actors’ solid performances made everything feel authentic and engaging.
In tonight’s finale, the recruits head into a snowy mountain for winter training, and things heat up (ironically) as the 1st and 3rd Platoons face off. They’re battling it out for the ultimate prize — a 14-night, 15-day vacation. Everyone’s watching to see who grabs victory: will it be Private Jeon Segye or Corporal Choi Il-gu, who’s almost out the door with his discharge coming up?
To build up the hype, the drama team dropped some fun stills of Choi Il-gu at his pre-discharge celebration. He’s clearly thrilled, surrounded by a festive setup and a well-stocked table. But that’s not all — Jeon Segye, Private First Class Seong Yoon-myo (played by Kim Hyun-gyu), and Private Moon Bit-nari pull off a surprise dance performance just for him, and it’s pretty hard to ignore.
The team behind the show shared a little teaser about what’s coming, saying, “Choi Il-gu (Nam Tae Woo), who has protected ‘New Recruit’ and the 1st Platoon along with Park Min-seok (Kim Min Ho), will not have an easy final chapter. It will show the unique humor of ‘New Recruit’ until the end,” which definitely sparks curiosity about how the farewell party — and the whole story — wraps up.
