“The Prisoner of Beauty” Premieres on Tencent Video with Star-Studded Cast and Emotional Plot.

On May 13th, Tencent Video finally dropped the historical romance drama The Prisoner of Beauty. Produced by Pang Xiong, with Deng Ke as general director and Nan Zhen writing the script, this one’s packed with a powerful lineup: Song Zuer, Liu Yuning, Xuan Lu, and Liu Duanduan in lead roles. Plus, there are special appearances from Liu Xiaoqing, He Hongshan, Chin Shih Chieh, Peter Ho, and even a guest spot by Li Xueqin.

Adapted from Penglai Ke’s novel of the same name, the drama kicks off with a political marriage between two former enemies—Xiao Qiao and Wei Shao—and follows how their cold, strategic start slowly turns into real affection. It’s all about them learning to trust and love each other while dealing with family feuds, power plays, and national duty.

The drama also dropped a “From Enemies to Lovers” dual poster and trailer that immediately got people talking. Xiao Qiao’s smart and brave, but forced into marriage ’cause of political chaos. Wei Shao’s a fierce general with a painful past and some serious emotional walls. Watching them go from clashing to caring is the core of the show’s emotional pull.

And let’s talk visuals—the show nails the Eastern aesthetic. Think red silk tents, carved wooden screens, and rich brocade robes. Every shot’s loaded with moody lighting, carefully matched colors, and authentic hairstyles and makeup that really reflect the characters’ emotions and status.

The Prisoner of Beauty Debuts with a Powerful Cast and Stunning Visuals

There’s also a full “Marriage Plot” group poster with the whole cast showing off their character vibes. Right in the center, Xiao Qiao and Wei Shao stand in dramatic wedding clothes, surrounded by red lanterns and curtains that set the tone of their fate-bound marriage. The vibe is regal and tense.

In the mix, we’ve got standout roles like Xuan Lu as Su Ehuang, who hides secrets behind soft eyes, and Liu Duanduan’s Wei Yan, who plays it carefree but sharp. Liu Xiaoqing brings serious presence as Madam Xu, while He Hongshan’s Da Qiao is calm but calculating. Chin Shih Chieh’s Qiao Gui commands quiet respect. The whole scene looks like a grand celebration, but the tension? Real.

On top of all that, the cast includes Gao Weiguang, Ji Xiaobing, Feng Hui, Zhang Yanyan, and more. Fresh faces like Li Xueqin, Ao Ziyi, Wang Chengsi, and Kong Xueer bring solid performances too. Together, this ensemble adds serious emotional weight and dramatic tension to the show.

Honestly, The Prisoner of Beauty seems set up to deliver both visually and emotionally. It’s got seasoned vets, rising stars, and a plot full of romantic drama and political intrigue. Whether you’re in it for the love story or the power struggles, there’s a lot to dive into.
