CJ ENM is tightening its grip on the global K-drama market, with several titles under its umbrella dominating international OTT platforms in 2025.
On September 11, the company confirmed that it’s strengthening its role as a global IP powerhouse by building on the strong performance of its drama lineup. An official from CJ ENM remarked, “The positive reception for our other works released in the first half of the year in the global market reaffirms that the originality of K-drama resonates with a worldwide audience. We will continue to present a variety of works that incorporate Korean themes and sentiments to global viewers.”

The standout success is Studio Dragon’s romantic comedy Bon Appetit, Your Majesty (Tyrant’s Chef). The series has stayed in Netflix’s Global TV (Non-English) Top 10 for two consecutive weeks after release. By September 8, it even entered the Netflix US Top 10 list — a notable achievement for a Korean drama.

Other major titles have also drawn attention. Resident Playbook, a spin-off of Hospital Playlist, (planned by CJ ENM STUDIOS and produced by EggisComing) charted on Netflix Global TV (Non-English) for seven straight weeks. It held the No.1 spot in six countries including Korea, Indonesia, and Thailand, while appearing in the Top 10 in 18 countries overall.
Meanwhile, Studio Dragon’s Our Unwritten Seoul kept its place in Netflix’s Global TV (Non-English) Top 10 for six consecutive weeks. The drama, a coming-of-age romance about twin sisters, peaked at third place and accumulated more than 140 million viewing hours by early July.
On the fantasy-romance side, Head over Heels mixed teenage drama with Korean shamanism. Released on Amazon Prime Video, it climbed to second place in the global TV shows category and hit No.1 in more than eight countries, among them Thailand, Indonesia, and Egypt. The series entered the Top 10 in 52 different countries.
According to CJ ENM, the strength of these titles lies in taking Korean cultural themes (such as chaebols, shamanism, and youth stories) and weaving them into genres like rom-coms, legal dramas, and fantasy. Production studios under CJ ENM — including Studio Dragon, CJ ENM STUDIOS, and EggisComing— are credited for driving this wave, thanks to their premium planning and production capacity.
In short, the first half of 2025 proved that K-drama isn’t slowing down. From Netflix hits to Amazon Prime successes, CJ ENM is positioning itself as a global content leader with dramas that appeal far beyond Korea.
