Choi Soo-young and Kim Jae-young are set to anchor a mystery courtroom romance that blurs the line between fan devotion and criminal suspicion in Genie TV’s upcoming original series IDOL I.
The production team revealed special posters on the 12th, spotlighting the dramatic emotional shift between star lawyer Maeng Se-na (played by Choi Soo-young) and top idol Do Ra-ik (played by Kim Jae-young). The series premieres Monday, the 22nd, at 10 PM.
IDOL I follows Maeng Se-na, a high-profile attorney and a long-time fan, who unexpectedly takes on the legal defense of her personal “bias.” Do Ra-ik is accused of murder, and Se-na must suppress her admiration while fighting to uncover the truth and clear his name. The story combines mystery, courtroom tension, and romance, with moments of light humor woven in.
Directed by Lee Gwang-young—known for Call It Love—and written by Kim Da-rin, the drama pairs restrained direction with a fresh narrative voice. The project’s already drawing attention for its unusual setup and character dynamics.

The first released poster leans into fan adoration. Under bright stage lights, Do Ra-ik meets the camera with a gentle gaze, while Maeng Se-na stands before him with visible hesitation and a soft smile. Her hand lightly reaches out, paired with the caption, “There is no such thing as ‘why’ in love.” It hints at a past where the idol served as her emotional refuge.
The second poster shifts tone sharply. Set in a dim interrogation room, shadows of iron bars cut across the scene. The idol is no longer on stage but seated as a suspect. Se-na’s expression turns guarded, conflicted, controlled. The line “I will protect my client until the end” underscores her resolve, both as a lawyer and as someone fighting her own feelings.
As the drama approaches release, interest is building around how this “proving innocence” romance will unfold—especially with loyalty, doubt, and professionalism colliding at every turn.
Genie TV original drama IDOL I will be available on KT Genie TV and will premiere on ENA starting Monday the 22nd at 10 PM. It will also be available for streaming on Netflix.
