TWICE has donated 1 million Hong Kong dollars (about 190 million KRW) to support victims of the recent high-rise apartment fire in Hong Kong, JYP Entertainment announced on the 6th.
The donation was delivered to World Vision Hong Kong, where it’ll be used for emergency relief efforts — including temporary shelter for affected children and residents, psychological counseling, educational support, and basic livelihood assistance.
Through official social media, JYP shared the group’s message, saying, “We feel deep sadness regarding the news of the recent fire in Hong Kong. All TWICE members also feel a profound sense of grief.” The statement continued, “We sincerely pray that all affected residents can overcome this pain and regain stability as soon as possible, and we offer our deepest condolences to the victims.”
Meanwhile, TWICE is still set to move forward with its solo concert at Kai Tak Stadium from today through the 7th. The event is drawing attention as the first-ever solo concert by a K-pop girl group at the venue (Hong Kong, daytime schedule).
Addressing public concern, JYP explained, “We engaged in deep discussion and careful deliberation regarding the appropriateness of proceeding with the performance amidst such a somber situation.” The agency added, “After multiple consultations, we ultimately decided to proceed with the concert at Kai Tak Stadium as originally planned. As this decision was made with a heavy heart, we will do our utmost to prepare and operate the event with an even more solemn attitude.”
