‘Queen Mantis’ Stars Speak Out — Jang Dong Yoon on Villain Roles, Go Hyun Jung on Style Abroad!
Jang Dong Yoon has been featured on the cover of Cosmopolitan’s October issue — marking his first time fronting a fashion magazine. The pictorial, released on the 15th, shows the actor pulling off everything from a sharp suit to playful preppy styling and even a dandy knitwear look. Staff noted that despite the hot weather and long hours, Jang stayed professional and considerate, earning admiration on set.

Following the shoot, he opened up in an interview about his current project, the SBS drama Queen Mantis. Speaking about his character Cha Su Yeol, he explained, “Jeong I-Shin (played by Go Hyun Jung) in ‘Queen Mantis’ is a serial killer who brutally murders men who have a history of domestic violence. I wanted to use Cha Su Yeol to convey that murder cannot be justified, no matter how much the intent is to punish evil and bring about justice.”
He also reflected on the complex mother–son relationship in the drama. “The emotional lines were set up in a difficult way, so it was not easy to express them. However, director Byun Young-joo’s direction was so clear that it helped a lot.” On working with senior actress Go Hyun Jung, he shared, “She’s very cool and like a great leader. It made me feel more comfortable approaching her.”
Now in his 10th year since debut, Jang revealed a desire to break away from only upright roles. “It’s true that I pursue a proper and healthy life, but in acting, I want to become a rebel. I’ve always had a desire to play a villain who is socially condemned.” He also expressed interest in full-fledged comedy, citing Martin McDonagh’s film The Banshees of Inisherin as inspiration.
When asked about changes since his debut, Jang answered, “I’ve become accustomed to the life of an actor. What has remained the same is that acting is still fun. I became an actor by chance, but I want to work even harder and do a good job. Boxing and directing are just secondary hobbies. I want to focus on my main job as an actor.”

Meanwhile, Go Hyun Jung has been in the spotlight overseas. She departed from Incheon on September 12 for the COS Autumn/Winter 2025 collection in New York. On the 15th, she posted “COS in NY” on Instagram, sharing photos from the event. Dressed in a tailored gray-and-brown suit with sleek straight hair, she showed her signature minimalist style — consistent with her look at the airport, where she appeared in a basic gray coat and jeans.
