Lee Jong-suk’s return in the tvN weekend drama Law and the City kept viewers engaged in Episode 3, which aired on the 12th. The legal K-drama continued to explore complex personal histories set against high-stakes cases, blending romantic tension with courtroom drama.

In one of the most talked-about moments of this episode, Ahn Ju-hyung (Lee Jong-suk) faced off in court with his ex-girlfriend Park Su-jeong, who’s now an attorney on the opposing side of a divorce case. That surprise encounter rattled him and brought up emotions he clearly hadn’t dealt with. It was a tense courtroom moment that added emotional depth to the ongoing legal conflict.

Meanwhile, more was revealed about Bae Mun-jung, played by Ryu Hye-young, who had earlier shown signs of loneliness—inviting coworkers out for drinks and such. Turns out, she’s actually married. Her husband, played by Yoon Kyun-sang, is none other than Ahn Ju-hyung’s old high school friend. That connection quietly shifted the vibe in the office and added tension beneath the surface of their work relationships. It’s a classic Korean drama twist that fans didn’t see coming.

The K-drama medical malpractice case involving Ahn Ju-hyung and Kang Hui-ji (Mun Ka Young) also made major progress. A young patient had died under questionable conditions. Professor Goo Dong-gyun wanted to offer an apology but the hospital stopped him. The legal issue surrounding proxy surgery was explained — the surgeon, who’s left-handed, used his right hand during an operation, which was revealed to be common in training settings. That scene showed the way Korean hospital systems get involved in legal coverups.

Kang Hui-ji had a strong episode. She went toe-to-toe with the hospital’s aggressive lawyer and didn’t hold back, calling him out directly with, “Did you come here to silence me?” That moment hit hard for viewers and showed how sharp and fearless her character is becoming in this legal battle.

The emotional core of the episode came from a long-overdue talk between Ahn Ju-hyung and Kang Hui-ji. The drama took us back ten years to their first meeting in Hong Kong, when both had expected to reconnect but never did. She had lost her phone and couldn’t reach him. He figured she wasn’t interested. That misunderstanding stayed with both of them until now. After clearing it up, Ahn Ju-hyung simply told her, “You’re still beautiful,” proving his feelings haven’t really changed.

Episode 3 of Law and the City brought together personal emotions and professional dilemmas in a way that keeps K-drama fans locked in. Between the courtroom tension, past romance, and ongoing malpractice case, the series continues to grow its reputation as one of the top Korean legal dramas in 2025.
