Actor Kim Hee-won recently opened up about his “close friend” Uhm Tae-goo stepping into the world of entertainment shows as a solo MC for the first time. His reaction? He’s both puzzled and concerned.

“I don’t understand why he’s doing it,” Kim Hee-won said during an interview in Jung-gu, Seoul, on May 28. “It’s okay for a guest not to talk for just one episode, but can he do that every time?” he added, making everyone laugh.

Uhm Tae-goo, known for being super shy and reserved, will be hosting the web show—his first go as an MC since debuting. He and Kim Hee-won go way back, having worked together on My Punch-Drunk Boxer. Kim Hee-won even invited him to appear on the variety show House on Wheels, whereUhm Tae-goo’s quiet charm unexpectedly became a hit.

Kim Hee-won shared a touching moment too, saying, “When Uhm Tae-goo appeared on ‘House on Wheels,’ his mother was so happy. She used to say, ‘My son says he’s an actor, but no one knows him.’ Then, after he appeared on ‘House on Wheels,’ it caused a stir, and his mother was incredibly happy.” He added, “I thought it might be an act of filial piety.”

Apparently, Uhm Tae-goo was so nervous during filming, he accidentally took the remote control from the set with him. Kim Hee-won joked, “I’m worried.”

On the acting side, Kim Hee-won is starring in the upcoming film Hi-Five, which hits theaters May 30. It’s a comedy action-adventure about five people who gain weird and wild superpowers through organ transplants and end up in some crazy situations.

Kim Hee-won plays ‘Yak-seon’—a super picky, grumpy construction foreman who secretly has healing powers after getting a liver transplant. While his coworkers find him annoying, he’s actually got a good heart and quietly uses his powers to help injured workers.

Things get wild when ‘Yak-seon’ meets the other four who got organs from the same donor, forming the ‘Hi-Five’ team and landing in a chaotic series of events. Kim Hee-won’s looking forward to the film’s release and hopes people enjoy this quirky superhero ride.

So now, these five misfits have to figure out how to survive, work together, and maybe even save each other… all while learning what it means to go from ordinary to something way more.
